Elton might be 75 years of age but he shows no sign of slowing down. Even after announcing his retirement in 2018, he went on to undertake a three-year tour, dubbed Farewell Yellow Brick Road. The timeline of this final tour took a bit of a hammering thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it’s now being said that Elton will hang up his extravagant outfits in 2023.

One of his stops for this final tour is said to be Las Vegas, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Hints of a performance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas were seen on official Twitter accounts. The report said that he will perform sometime in November. However, the latest updates are that he will perform on November 1 and tickets will be on sale soon.

Elton’s Career Continues to Head Upwards

Something quite remarkable happened following the 2018 tour announcement. While he might have been winding down his touring days his career was doing anything but. If anything, Elton is more in the public eye and higher in the charts than he has been for many years.

UK Chart Success

Elton has enjoyed three UK No 1 singles in a row. The first was “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix)” which was a collaboration with Dua Lipa. Next came “Merry Christmas” with Ed Sheeran. He also released a collection of singles, “The Lockdown Sessions” which also managed to top the UK charts.

A Plethora of Awards

A big part of his recent popularity can likely be laid at the doors of the 2019 biopic “Rocketman.” It received immense critical acclaim including the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. The star of the movie Taron Egerton also won Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In addition, Elton and lyrical partner Bernie Taupin won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for the original song “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again.”

First indications of a concert at this venue were hinted at in Allegiant Stadium’s Twitter account. A tweet on Sunday showed a photo of the letter “E” outside of the stadium. The text that accompanies the photo simply says “Tomorrow 8 AM.”

Elton’s Twitter account also hinted that something was going to take place. On Saturday, there was a picture of Allegiant Stadium’s field. In both end zones were the words “in Two Days.” On the 50-yard line, there was an “E.”

Elton is already booked to appear in the US during October and November. Stops of his tour include:

  • October 8 and 9 – Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California

Elton Has Not Been Short of Accolades

We’ve already mentioned some of the awards Elton’s biopic received, but he’s also received numerous accolades in his name. For example, Billboard Magazine placed him in third place in their list of the greatest all-time artists. In first place were the Beatles, followed by The Rolling Stones and then Elton.

Elton has also received numerous Tony and Academy awards along with a few Grammy Awards. In 1994, Elton received the honour of being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
